Prep C and D Exploring Shapes and QR Codes in Digitech!

Mr Singh & Ms Struth

This term in Digitech, our Prep C and Prep D students have been engaging in hands-on digital learning experiences that build essential early technology skills.

One of their key activities is using Geoboard (click here to explore), a fantastic online tool that allows students to create and manipulate shapes of different sizes on a digital board. This helps them develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and an understanding of basic geometry concepts.

Additionally, students are being introduced to QR codes andlearning how to scan them to access learning materials. This foundational skill fosters digital literacy and independence, as QR codes are commonly used in classrooms and everyday life to retrieve information quickly.

These activities align with the Victorian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and Mathematics strands:

📌 Digital Technologies – Data Representation (VCDTDI011): Students explore how digital systems represent data differently.

📌 Mathematics – Shape (VCMMG078): Students recognise and name common two-dimensional shapes and describe their features.

📌 Digital Technologies – Digital Systems (VCDTDS013): Students explore and use different digital systems, including QR codes, to access information.

Through these engaging tasks, our youngest learners are developing critical early technology and problem-solving skills to support their future learning in a digital world!
