Term 1: Update from the Parents & Carers Committee.

 

 

✨ WELCOME TO 2025! ✨

A warm hello from the Parents and Carers Committee (P&C)! To all the Prep and new  familie  joining us this year – we’re so excited to have you as part of the school community.

What is the P&C?

The Parents and Carers Committee (P&C) is a subcommittee of the School Council, made up of volunteers from our school community, plus a representative from the School Council. We work together to make our school a better place for students, families, and staff.

What Do We Do?

The P&C plays a key role in supporting our school by organising events and activities that help raise both funds and a sense of community. Some of our fun (and very popular!) events include:

  • BBQs & Whole-School Breakfasts
  • Coffee Mornings
  • Co-ops & Bulk Buys
  • Comedy & Trivia Nights
  • Mother’s & Father’s Day Gift Stalls & Raffles
  • Picnics

These events are all about bringing our community together while raising money for the school.

Why Does the School Fundraise?

While government funding covers some costs, it doesn’t stretch far enough to provide everything we’d love for our students. That's where P&C fundraising comes in. Every dollar raised goes directly to enriching the student experience and improving school facilities. Over the years, fundraising has contributed to:

  • New home readers & library books
  • Playground upgrades
  • Sports equipment
  • Additional staff for psychology and speech pathology
  • New classrooms & resources
  • A new library
  • And other exciting projects!

How Can You Get Involved?

Anyone who is a parent or carer at the school is automatically a member of the P&C! We encourage all families to get involved – whether by attending meetings, volunteering at events, or sharing new ideas.

The P&C meets regularly in person or online to plan events and discuss upcoming projects. These meetings are a great way to stay connected, contribute your ideas, and see how things are progressing.

You don’t need to take on a big role to help out. There are plenty of ways to get involved, from volunteering at events to baking, setting up, or donating items. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Run an event (with lots of help, of course!)
  • Cook or serve at a BBQ
  • Make coffee at a coffee morning
  • Bake for a fundraising event
  • Donate to a hamper or raffle
  • Help with event setup or pack-up
  • Share your ideas at a meeting

Every little bit helps, and we welcome any level of involvement!

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with the P&C is a fantastic way to:

  • Meet other parents and make friends
  • Learn new skills
  • Make MPS an even better place for our kids
  • Strengthen our local community
  • Set a great example for the kids
  • Feel amazing!

First Meeting of 2025

Our first meeting for the year will be held soon.  Stay tuned for details.  Look out for info via WhatsApp and Facebook.
