Welcome to the University Campus for 2025!

It has been a smooth start to 2025 with an increased cohort of students in the VCE, VCEVM, and VPC programs. As our Year 11 students orientated themselves to the location of classes and different parts of the campus everyone has appeared to enjoy the young adult environment of the senior campus. We have welcomed a number of students new to Kurnai and also a number of new staff to the Campus. This is an exciting time for everyone as we settle into the year of learning ahead.

We have added to our Campus Leadership team this year with Michael Eastham in a new role as Campus Assistant Principal and welcomed Ken Igba as a Leading Teacher overseeing our Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) program. Experienced Kurnai leaders Amanda Vosper and Lindy Gumpold will head up the Victorian Certificate of Education – Vocational Major program (VCE VM), and Victorian Certificate of Education program (VCE) respectively.

With the team we have and the positive start made by students to the year we are looking forward to working alongside each other to achieve great things in 2025!

Young Citizen of the Year 2025

Congratulations to Year 11 student Claire Lindsay who was presented with an Australia Day Award for Latrobe City Young Citizen of the Year 2025. Further details and acknowledgement of other student nominations are in the message from the College Principal in this newsletter.

Engagement – one of our College pillars

As a college we are always striving to improve so we can provide a high-quality learning experience for all our students. The role for teachers is to provide the strategies for participation and active involvement in the learning for students. The role for students at the senior campus is to attend classes, be prepared to learn, contribute to and actively participate in class and campus activities. By doing this, students are more likely to feel connected to school and enhance their opportunities to do well. We encourage all our students to get involved with their learning and take advantage of the range of supports available to ensure they reach their potential.

College Athletics

The College Athletics is on Tuesday 4th March and students are reminded to have their permission forms completed through Compass so they can attend the day. This is a whole College event and there will be no scheduled classes.
