Principal's Report
Friday 14 February 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are sending home a short newsletter this week as we sent out one last week which technically wasn’t newsletter week. This will put us back on track to receiving newsletters in odd weeks (next one will be Week 5) on Thursdays.
This morning at our Opening School Mass, I was moved by the commitment of all stakeholders in our school - students, teachers, parents, grandparents, friends, parishioners and Fr Paddy our Parish Priest. It takes a village to raise a child and our St Joey’s village is a very supportive and nurturing community. This was so evident this morning.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new staff members who have joined our school community this year. We are thrilled to have you with us and look forward to the positive impact you will bring to our students and school environment.
Additionally, we proudly acknowledge our Year 6 student leaders who were inducted at our Opening Mass. These exceptional students have shown great commitment, dedication, and a true spirit of service to our school. As leaders, they will be role models for their peers, guiding with integrity and inspiring others through their actions. We have full confidence that they will serve our school with pride, responsibility, and a sense of community.
We look forward to an exciting year ahead, filled with growth, leadership, and meaningful contributions from all members of our school family. Thank you to Mrs Salmon for her organisation of the mass, Mr Pratt for the music and Fr Paddy for being the celebrant.
School Canteen
Today we had our first school canteen day for the year which was a huge success. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Melissa Skewes and Mrs Felicity Moloney for so kindly giving up their time to coordinate and run the canteen as volunteers so our school community can continue to enjoy the canteen each week. We are so very grateful for their generosity, commitment and service. Thank you also to the other parents who have joined the Canteen Committee and are assisting.
SJJU Social and Fundraising Committee Meeting
Our first SJJU Social and Fundraising committee meeting will be held on Monday 17th February at the Junee Hotel starting at 6pm. We extend a warm welcome for all parents to come along, mingle, and be part of this parent group and share ideas. Children are welcome to come and you can order meals to have during the meeting. We look forward to seeing you on Monday evening.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
At the beginning of each year, we invite parents to come and speak to their child's new teacher and ask any questions you may have. This will be held on Monday 24th February and you will be able to book a time on Compass next week. This meeting is really important for the class teacher to get to know your child better so that their wellbeing and learning needs are best met. It also helps build that vital relationship between home and school.
Whole School Welcome BBQ
On Tuesday 4th March from 5.00-6.30pm we will host a Welcome BBQ at the school for all our families to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for our new families to meet other families and for all our families to socialise with one another and the staff.
The RSVP needs to be completed by the 26th February: https://newsletters.naavi.com/issue/JmGLR35/edit/M1PGRdJ
Food and drink will be provided at no cost to the families. We look forward to seeing you all at the school for the BBQ.
It’s been a wonderful first three weeks at St Joseph’s. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
God Bless
Angela Scott
