Laura Jane's Message

Dear families, 

In 2025, Father Pritchard was joined by Father Jossy in the Partnered Parishes of Reservoir to manage the huge workload in this area.  We welcome Father Jossy to the St Gabriel’s Parish and look forward to celebrating Mass throughout the year. 

On Wednesday, we celebrated the Beginning of the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time for prayer and reflection, fasting and giving as we prepare for Easter.  

“God, may Your light guide my day, and your spirit bring me peace. Amen.”

On Thursday our staff came together to aknowledged all Women for "International Women's Day", thinking about that special person who may have guided, inspired, captured and supported them through their life. The theme this year is "Accelerate Action" which emphasises the strategic efforts to empower women.

Our educators have been working closely with all children to gather important and informative learning data for the beginning of the year. We have begun using this data to inform the learning and teaching that is taking place within the Hubs. The educators work closely with curriculum leaders to review and evaluate how children are tracking, ensuring that we are responding to the needs identified through the data. Through explicit teaching, we will continue to utilise the high impact teaching strategies to target these needs and to develop the necessary strategies that our children require.

This week, we want to celebrate and recognise Rita Bainy. Rita participated in the Sunshine Coast Taekwondo Open yesterday and brought home two gold medals. After two months of intense training, she dominated her first-ever competition in the cadet division (12-14 years old), winning 15-0 and 14-0. We congratulate Rita on her achievements and commend her hard work and dedication, which were clearly reflected in her success.

We are excited about another engaging year of Learning and teaching at St Gabriel’s and we want to remind you all that we are here to work in partnership to support the best possible learning experience for your child.
