Chaplain's Spot

Community wellbeing:  Each week, we run a Toast Tuesday program before school in the Sports and Performance Centre. This is open to any students. It is supported by Woolies Eastland and Bakers’ Delight Heathmont.

Roster: If you would like to help occasionally on our TT team [ably supervised by my wife Bonnie], here is a link set up to enter your name for whichever dates you are available. volunteersignup.org/LJX4A.

Baker Delight goods: Each week, Bakers Delight provides loaves for us to use in our Toast Tuesday program. They also have loaves and rolls left over at the end of Monday trading. If your family would appreciate regular bread or rolls, sourdough, multi-grain, wholemeal etc. please email me below, or see me at school. This will be packaged and given to your child, or you can collect it on Tuesday mornings.

Uniforms: We also have available second-hand uniforms in good condition for sale, for gold coin donations. These sales also provide necessary supplies for Toast Tuesday.

Contact: If you would like to contact me, you can email, phone, or see me at school.

”Journey into the unknown”

Monthly theme: My first life qualities theme may be of interest to those of faith. I wonder how you have approached 2025, with all the unknown factors that life can throw at us. What keeps you going? Who/what do you rely on to get you through each day/week/month/year? The quote below comes from Minnie Louise Haskins in 1908.

In 1939, with the recent outbreak of war for Britain, King George VI sought in his Christmas Day radio broadcast to encourage UK and Commonwealth citizens to put their trust in God. He quoted the above poem that his mother, Queen Mary, found precious.

He didn’t know what the new year would bring, but he trusted God in the anxious days ahead. Whatever we face as we look into the new year, we need to know who we can trust to guide us through all the joys and the sorrows.

We know that there are many people who are ‘influencers’ in our society. Often we look to such people to help them navigate the way ahead. Unfortunately, such people do not always have our best interests at heart. As a man of faith, I encourage you to make sure that you follow who you know you can trust. These people might be well-respected family members or friends, or other people of integrity, rather than self-professed celebrities.

May this year be a productive and fruitful one for you and your family.
