Prep - Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)
We are excited to announce that this year all Prep students will be participating in a Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) that will be delivered every Wednesday between 2:30pm and 3:30pm in the Molesworth Campus Gymnasium.
PMP aims to develop children's perceptions and understanding of how to move safely and
effectively in the space around. The PMP immerses the students in fine and gross motor activities that promote hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, concentration and attention, and locomotion whilst building confidence to try new things.
Students will be involved in carefully planned and sequential activities that include balancing, eye tracking, crawling, jumping, hopping, climbing, throwing and catching, strength and body control. These activities are best conducted in small groups to ensure maximum impact, growth and development, therefore parental involvement and support is vital to the program’s success.
The program will begin 5th March, and a roster for volunteers from all Prep parents is currently being organised.
Volunteers are required to attend an induction session on Friday 28th February at 3:00PM at the Molesworth St Campus. We ask for your commitment in helping out each week to assist with instructing the children through one activity. The induction session will run through the PMP set up of activities, equipment and lay out within the gym. We will be recording the Induction session, so it will be available to those helpers who cannot make it.
If you choose to volunteer for PMP, you will be required to stay for the full time allotment to assist with all classes. We would ask that you arrive to volunteer from 2:10pm to assist in setting up the equipment for the activities that week. For the program to run smoothly we will require 16 parents, minimum. All parent helpers will require a current Working With Children’s Check as well as be asked to read through and complete the NMPS Volunteer Induction Form. Please note, younger children will not be able to attend.
If you are able to assist with the smooth running of this essential program, could you please add your name to the shared document whenever you are available by completing this PMP Volunteer Google Form.
Please note – You can sign up for as many sessions as you like. However, please communicate with your child's class teacher if you are unable to attend on your nominated day/s. A list of standby parents is therefore required, so please indicate on the Google Form if you have the flexibility to be involved as “Back Up” if required at short notice.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the program, please don’t hesitate to contact Kale, Mark and Ben.
