Maths

This fortnight in Year 2 we have begun our Maths unit on Place Value. Students have worked with partners and have practised using some classroom resources such as Base Ten Blocks to help them read, write and represent numbers. 

Reading

In Reading, we have focused on making different types of connections to a range of texts, including text to self, text to text, and text to world.  The children have enjoyed finding similarities in the themes, characters and settings.

Phonics

In Phonics we have been exploring long vowel sounds and the different letter combinations used to make these, for example, ay, ai, and a-e. The students have enjoyed practising using the whiteboards and sharing their knowledge of spelling and letter sounds amongst their peers. We are looking forward to seeing these skills reflected in their writing.
