Principal and Deputy Principal News
Dear Parents and Carers,
Here we are at the end of Term 3. It has been such a busy yet fun term, filled with many great learning opportunities for the students.
I would like to take this opportunity for all families to support all school initiatives and demonstrate to your child the importance of fostering and maintaining home school partnerships. We are very fortunate to have a caring and supportive school community at St James. We are one BIG family!
I would also like to acknowledge and thank the Staff at St James for their tireless commitment and dedication to teaching your children.
Wishing all families a safe and relaxing school holiday. See you all back for the final term of the school year which is set to be filled with many opportunities for the students to learn and and share their skills with the school community.
END OF TERM PRAYER
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends. Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others, to be peacemakers in our family. Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and our St James School community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
MACSSIS: School Improvement Surveys - CLOSE ON FRIDAY 15th SEPTEMBER
On 28th August 2023, all St James Families were emailed invitations to participate in the MACS School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings students, families and staff have about how their school can improve.
The survey is available online and needs to be completed by Friday 15 September 2023. This survey may only be completed once and each family was emailed instructions with a unique PIN code to be used. If you have trouble locating the survey email, please contact the school on 9596 4766 or via email info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au and we can resend the email to you.
Thank you to the many families who have already participated in the survey, we encourage any families who haven't done so yet to do so. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
All families who have completed the survey are eligible to go into the draw to win a $100 gift voucher. When you have completed the survey, please register your information here to go into the draw.
Football Grand Final 2023
The students enjoyed our final day of school focusing on Footy Day. It was great to see all students get into the spirit by wearing their team colours. Thank you to the Year 6 leaders for organising a number of different activities and Hot dog lunch. Thank you to the staff and year 6 parents for supporting this initiative.
‘Cause there's one day in September
We want to remember
There isn't any doubting
We'll be in the shouting
Football's such a part of this whole town
And we know that you won't let us down!

Water damage repairs - UPDATE As many of you will have noticed, 95% of our new carpet has now been installed. The plumbers have installed our new box gutter. And the Prep area is now ready for the students to work in from Term 4 onwards! There are still some cosmetic and joinery works to be completed, however this will not impact on the Preps working in this space.
After School Dance Classes at St James Leisa Giannopoulos, also known as Miss Leisa, our School Production Director will soon be offering after school dance classes onsite, on a Tuesday and Thursday in our school hall. We are so excited to be offering this additional activity onsite for the students to access. Please refer to the School Community section of the School Newsletter for further details on how to join these classes.
St James School Vision and School Priorities (Post Review)
Last year the school participated in our school review. Following the review we received a report including recommendations for forward planning. We have met as a Leadership team and in consultation with staff and MACS consultants have set our new school priorities for continuous improvement for the next four years. (Please see the attached information).

Hello Everyone,
Thank-you to all of the wonderful performers at the St James Music Soiree on Tuesday evening. It was a fabulous turn out from our keyboard and piano players, our recorder ensemble and some of our Seussical cast. Also thank-you to June, Mandy C and Miss Leisa for preparing the students. They didn’t however help prepare one of our special musical guests!
A huge thank-you to all families and students for wearing their hats. For those who have not brought them to school we have been handing out spares each day. The summer uniform can be worn from the first day of term 4 with a two week change over. We expect all students to be fully transitioned into the summer uniform at the beginning of week 3.
Please note we have removed two of the assemblies for Term 4. Our assemblies in Term 4 will now take place in week 3, 5, 9 and 11.
