Auslan

 We have been learning about depicting signs. 

To depict means to describe, illustrate, or show. 

We have been using depicting signs to accurately describe distinct features of Monsters!

Students have learnt depicting signs to the book Monster by Kerrie Taylor and Viktor Jaderlund.    

 

We have been using signs to accurately describe a monsters distinct features. 

 

Students had so many monsters with different teeth, eyes, horns and fur!

  Miss Edwards also described a monster step by step using Auslan to follow along and draw check out our drawings.

 


Physical Education

 

GYM PROGRAM 

Gym has been lots of fun. Somersaults and smiles galore!

BIKE ED.

Bike Ed. will be starting in week 6 for all grade 3-6 students. Bike Ed is a vital component of the PE curriculum and lots of fun! 

Students can bring their own bike and helmets if they wish or use the school's. 

We will be learning bike skills and basic road and bike safety. 

Please provide you child with permission on compass as we will be leaving the school grounds occasionally.   

 

DIVISION ATHLETICS

The Division Athletics event for 2023 was held last term at Flora Hill Athletics Track. We had 5 students representing Epsom PS on the day; Ruby Mansbridge, Eli Fuller, Geneva Moon, Lexi Kingdon and Sophie Veisa. Congratulations to these 5, I'm sure you did Epsom proud.

Excitingly, of these students, Geneva Moon, was selected to go to the Region (Loddon Mallee) competition on October 9th. Geneva competed in the 10 year old girl category for shot put... and won! She is now off to the state competition on November 1st. A huge congratulations Geneva, we wish you all the best for your next challenge.

We'd also love if families can send in a pack of toilet paper with your child's name on it (it will be returned after the performance) which will be used in one of our songs.

Visual Arts:

Welcome back artists, the final term in the art world for us with more skills, study and works of art to be created. All of our classes have has a wonderful start to the term, here is a sneak peek of what is to come this term.

 

Grade 6 - "For the love of art" a look into passion projects and developing accurate drawing skills. 

Grade 5 - Basquiat and the mark making.

Grade 4 - Artist Study, Harry Holtzman and American abstract art.

Grade 3 and 2 - Creating Colours.

Grade 1 and Prep - Famous works of art, Starry Night.
