CIS Athletics

On Tuesday 19 September we had 15 athletes competing as part of the ISA team at the NSWCIS athletics. A fantastic achievement for all students to get through to this level. It was a long day with events starting at 11:00am and not finishing until 9:40pm in some very warm weather. A special thanks must go to four of the school’s students who assisted at the carnival working tirelessly all day. Thank you to Chloe McGilvray, Emily Caro, Grace Simpson and Ruby Leigo. Without the help of volunteers, events like this are impossible to run. Congratulations to all the students who competed on the day.

Lily Clarke

Lily Clarke represented NSWCIS U18 Girls Touch Football team at the national all schools touch tournament. The team performed well throughout the carnival, narrowly missing out on the semis through for and against. The fifth-place finish was one of the better finishes the NSWCIS team have obtained in recent years. Despite being one of the younger players in the team Lily finished the carnival as the NSWCIS most valuable player - an impressive achievement.

Ashton Nock

After a long campaign, Ashton Nock and the Western FC football team found themselves in a grand final against Manly. It was a tough game in hot conditions with the score locked at 0-0 at the end of regular time. This led to extra time with both teams scoring and the draw remaining now at 1-1, leaving Western to take the game 5-4 on penalties. A great win for Ashton as part of the Western Football club.

Ex-Students in cAtion

A couple of our ex-students have been busy over the break competing at the highest levels in their respective sports. Congratulations must go to:

Phoebe Litchfield – who, whilst on representative duties for Australia in the T20 squad, managed to equal the fastest T20 half century by a female from only 18 balls. A truly incredible achievement from such a young player. We look forward to watching Phoebe in an entertaining summer of cricket.

Donny Freeman – was recently added to the Western Force Squad to tour South Africa and play in trial games against the Cheetahs. A great achievement for Donny who has been recognised for his outstanding season in the Shute Shield.

Cricket Report

Week 1, Term 4

Cricket Season is upon us once again! Spring is an exciting time for our young cricketers, and this year is no exception. With the ICC World Cup on the TV, there is no better time for our teams to embark on their season’s campaigns.

At the conclusion of Term 3, trials were conducted for our Open and Under 15 age groups. I commend all players for their enthusiasm, effort and conduct throughout this period of time. Team selections have been posted on The HUB for players and parents. I encourage those players who have missed out on their desired selection to continue to train and play hard – coaches will be looking to reward players who train and play well to join their teams in the coming weeks. Selections made for the first round of cricket do not reflect the final teams for the season.

Please see below for some additional information, and congratulations to some of our cricketers.
