Learning Community 2

Maxine Howard and John Wigg

Welcome to Term 4!

We are ready for one final term of hard work and learning with our fabulous classes.

We have started to revise lots of Maths concepts, starting with Place Value, Addition and Subtraction.

We made MAB monsters then calculated their totals which was great fun. When revising addition and subtraction, we used an old fashioned Pancake Parlour menu to practise spending money!

In Writing we have started writing our own autobiographies! We planned our important life events to include, then started drafting. We have learnt about and practised using a range of editing symbols, and we hope to be finished publishing our work by Friday.

We have looked at Poetry and Persuasive texts in Reading, in particular using figurative language in poems and how it can help describe the events or objects in the text. We used 'The Day the Crayons Quit' to learn about persuasive texts, and wrote letters to the crayons trying to persuade them not to quit.

Australia's First People is our History focus this term - we have looked into where our First Peoples first came from and how they got to Australia all those years ago.

Lastly, we are getting excited for Camp! Less than a month to go.
