Pizza party for DEL readers during Book Week

On Wednesday 23/8/23 a small group of students, their English teachers and Campus and College Principal celebrated the end of the first Delahey campus reading challenge. Students chose books from a range of categories to read and verified their reading with library staff. The entry signs were displayed for a short time so Library staff were really happy with the response. A competition for a selection of books is being run for Challenge participants and any other interested students. It is hoped that this challenge will be run every year. Well done to our student readers; even though you have very busy lives you took time to enter and complete the challenge. Students who continue their reading for leisure are very valued at Copperfield College.

A separate challenge for staff to create the worst opening sentence to a story using Generative AI Chat GPT was won by Mrs Gaylard. Her sentence?

"In a world where people breathe air and trees grow leaves, there was a person who did things and stuff happened."

It is exciting to think about what comes next with AI, and how students will use it…go readers and authors! Thanks to all staff who helped with the Challenge and on the day and Dymocks Highpoint, our supplier who devised the original challenge for adult readers.
