The Art Show is Coming!

Friday 13th October, 4.30pm - 6.30pm

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am so excited to announce that the Art Show is nearly here.

Newlands Primary School has been a hive of creativity with students busily completing their artwork in the Art Room, classrooms and during STEAM sessions.

Please remember to save the date, Friday 13th October, 2023 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.

There will be lots to see and do, so come along and help celebrate our students' artistic achievements this year!

Due to the recent build, the Art Show will be spread across the school, with artwork displayed in classrooms and C block.

Our fantastic STEAM teacher, Raema, has planned a set of interactive STEAM activities for our community to partake in during the evening.

These activities include:

Marble Painting

Gravity Splat Art

Magna Doodle

Origami

Salad Spinner Art

Shadow Puppets

Robot Drawing (using bee bots)

Lego Sculptures

Rock Sculptures

Bubble Art

There is a small entry fee of $10 per family. Entry is through the main gate on Murphy Street. Please remember to collect your attendance stickers as you enter. These will give you access to the STEAM activities. Payment can be made via Sentral, prior to the night or at the gate in the evening.

In addition to these activities, we will be having our amazing School Council and PFA organising a sausage sizzle and a bake sale. Not only that, but we will also be having a Coffee Cart and an Ice Cream Van in attendance. Our wonderful band will be entertaining us on the stage near the blue shed, under the watchful eye of our talented Music teacher, Joel.

Involve yourself in all the fun by signing up to volunteer on the day to run the show and serve food. If you have an hour or more to spare, head over to: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4EA5A923A5F9C07-newlands1#/

The PFA has been working hard on organising the '2023 Newlands Art Show Silent Auction'. We have received some wonderful donations from our community artists for the silent auction, with more items added over the next few weeks. Yes, you can have a completely original work hanging in your home by the end of October just by bidding now:

There will be a framing station where your child's artwork can be framed, for a small fee (repurposing frames from previous art shows).

Finally, face painting will be available, for a gold coin donation.

Please note that the entrance fee for the Art Show is to cover a portion of the costs for the interactive STEAM stations, as well as contributing to fundraising for Newlands Primary School's Ceramics Program.

I cannot wait to see you all there... supporting and celebrating your children's creativity!

Warmest Regards,

Margaret
