In Reading, we are learning how to  ask questions to deepen their understanding of a text. This is called Questioning. 

 

We have asked questions before a text. This week, we are focusing on asking questions during a text.

Questions: a sentence designed to get more information.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When your child looks at books, ask them if they have any questions before reading.

 

Once you have started reading, you can also pause to see if they have any questions during reading, and after. You can ask your own questions to show the children what this looks like. 

 

I wonder why the character did that?

What is the character’s face telling us?

What time of day is it? Is that important?
