27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Acknowledgement of Country 

We acknowledge and pay respect to the original and ongoing custodians of the land upon which our offices are situated.We commit to actively working alongside First Nations people for healing, reconciliation and justice.

 

The Catholic education faith community is inclusive and acknowledges that we are all made in the image and likeness of God and we are created in love. People of all faiths, genders, sexualities, abilities and cultures are therefore respected equally in the Sandhurst Catholic community.  

 

We acknowledge the pain and suffering of all who have been hurt in body, mind and spirit by those who have betrayed the trust placed in them.

 

May we all stand tall, stand firm, grounded in truth, together as one. 

 

A Reading from Paul’s letter to the Phillipians 4:6-9

 

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Spiritual Reflection

 

Paul offers profound guidance for finding inner peace and strength amidst life's challenges. It encourages us to replace anxiety with prayer and surrender, turning our worries over to  God. This act of surrender allows us to experience a peace that transcends understanding. Furthermore, we are encouraged to focus our thoughts on what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy.

 

By doing so, we can cultivate a more positive outlook on life. Ultimately, Paul’s letter to the Philippians reminds us that the key to peace lies in our relationship with God. It serves as a timeless reminder to approach life with faith, gratitude, and love.

I come to you with gratitude, laying my anxieties at your feet. Help me focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, and lovely. May your peace safeguard my heart and mind, providing strength and tranquility in all circumstances. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord
