Welcome back to Term 4

On the last day of Term 3, Mr Adams and some of our stud ewes and wethers headed off to the Perth Royal Show. Once again, we had our ewes entered in some sheep classes and our wethers in the AWI Future Sheep Breeder’s Challenge.

Mr Adams, Kendall Heliams, Bethany Rutten and Roy Slater spent the weekend attending to and showing the College sheep.

The College won Reserve Champion Under one and a half-year-old Autumn Shorn Ewe and first and second place with our wool.

In the AWI Future Sheep Breeders Challenge to College was the overall winner in the event.  Well done to Mr Adams and our students.

On Tuesday, our Year 12 students competed in the AWI Ag College Challenge which involves shearing, wool handling and ewe judging.  We placed third, which was a great effort.

Shearing and Wool Handling

The College commenced shearing this week with Kevin Gellatly and Amanda Davis attending the College for four days to conduct shearer and wool handling training.  This gives our Year 10 and 11 students the opportunity to go up to the shearing shed and participate.

Silage and Hay Program

We have also commenced our silage and hay program this week with Mr Falkingham, Mr Morris, Mr Olde and Mr McGee and the students all being involved.

Hats On Farm

Just a reminder that students need to wear a broad-brim hat on the Farm this term.  This can either be the College bucket hat or Akubra.

Weekend Stock

This is just a reminder to all students to check the Weekend Stock Roster so they are aware of their weekend stock obligations. If students need to swap a weekend stock date, they must fill out a swap form a week before the date of their rostered weekend.
