Welcome back to the start of Term 4! I trust that everyone had a restful and enjoyable break and returned ready to focus on their tasks for the term! I had an enjoyable time away catching up with family and friends.
Leadership Changes
As you will be aware from an email communication sent out to the College community at the beginning of the week there have been some changes to the leadership at the College over the term break. Steve Watt was approached and has taken on the Director of Agricultural Education role for Term 4. I have agreed to take on the role of Principal, with Paul Dyson agreeing to act as Vice Principal. As a result, Mr Dyson’s Year 10 BC class will be taught by Mr Depiazzi from Week 3 and there have been a few other minor timetable changes.
It will be business as usual for all students who need to remain focussed and ensure they finish the year off strong and push themselves to achieve the best results possible. Year 11 students are scheduled to finish Week 6, with Friday 17th November being their last day. Some students may be required to return for Week 7 to participate in short courses in preparation for 2024, these details will follow later. Year 10 students' last day on site will be Friday 1st December, the end of Week 8. They will then be required to complete the Work Experience program during Weeks 9 and/or 10 as previously communicated.
Student Behaviour
Unfortunately, this week we have had to deal with some unacceptable behaviour, poor choices and decisions that some students made. This resulted in three students being suspended from school and having their privilege to reside at the College removed for a period of time. Some of the behaviours involved included stealing College items, vaping incidents, possession of banned items and interference/vandalism of other student's project work in Trades. This is disappointing as I know all students are aware of the College standards and expectations, and the opportunities attending an Agricultural College provides.
I ask for parents/carers support to have a conversation with their child and remind them to make wise choices and decisions, so as to not negatively impact themselves or others. In your discussion please emphasise the need for them to respect themselves, each other and their own and others belongings.
Brunswick Show
The College will be involved in the show on Saturday 28th October with students competing in junior judging and parading, trade steers and a College stall.
There is an ‘Agricultural Challenge’ at the show for teams of three. Students are encouraged to participate. See the below flyer for details and how to register.
Compass Roll Out
In Issue 27 of the Weekly Wrap on 14th September, Steve Watt provided information as part of his article in relation to Compass. The rollout of Compass is still being finalised and further information will be provided when this is ready for parents/carers and students to access.
Stay safe, look after each other and have a great weekend!
