Primary Diocesan Gala Day 

On Friday 15 September our St Philomena's football and netball teams travelled to Tamworth to compete at the Primary Diocesan Gala Day. With 950 Primary students and 42 Secondary umpires/referees from around the Armidale Diocese, it was a phenomenal day on the netball court and football field with students showing off some exceptional talent. 

Our St Philomena's netballers had a great day playing numerous games of netball against all of our Diocesan schools. Our junior netball team, coached by Miss McGrath, demonstrated great sportsmanship, improving their netball skills each game. Our Stage 3 netballers, coached by Miss Arthur and Mrs Schweitzer, displayed their confidence and competitiveness on the netball court. All teams should be very proud of themselves on a fantastic day of netball! 

Congratulations to our Phillies Blue team who placed second in Pool A on the day, only losing one game. Well done! 

Also, our St Philomena's footballers showed off their skills and talent on the soccer field. Our Year 4 soccer team, coached by Mrs Moylan, were exceptional throughout the day working together to score as many goals as possible placing them third in Pool B, only losing two games out of six. Our Year 3 team, coached by Miss Kerwin, played well winning three out of their six games. Our Stage three team, coached by Mr Powell, demonstrated their perseverance playing against some tough schools from around the Diocese. 

Thank you to our umpires and referees on the day: Chevy Thorburn, Josh Rigby, Olivia Donaldson, Stella Hurle, Isabel Schweitzer, Sophie Schweitzer, Zalia Hobday and Aisha Moore. The day wouldn't have been as successful without all of your help!

Netball NSW Regional Finals

On Wednesday 20 September, St Philomena's 5/6 Mixed & 9/10 Girls Netball teams travelled to Tamworth to compete in the Netball Regionals All Schools Cup Final. It was a spectacular showcase of talent, teamwork and sportsmanship. 

Congratulations to all who demonstrated incredible skill and dedication on the court. It was heartening to witness the unwavering sportsmanship displayed by every player and supporters throughout the day. Your commitment to fair play and respect for your opponents truly exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship. Regardless of the final scores, both Primary and Secondary teams emerged as winners in their own right, inspiring us all with your passion for the game. Well done, to everyone who participated. 

To Brendan Moylan, Anna Gall and Alexia Karam, thank you so much for all of your support throughout the day. It wouldn't have ran as smoothly without all of your help!
