From the

Head of Junior School

Mrs Virginia Milliken

Welcome Back 2024!

Welcoming both students and parents back to campus for the beginning of the new school year was truly a joy. We express sincere thanks to all families for their contributions to the positive start of this academic year. Our students have come back with a feeling of stability and eagerness, prepared to embrace a year full of exciting learning experiences.

We welcome back existing and new families to our Junior School and a special welcome to our new Pre-kinder students and families as they join our Kinross Wolaroi community. Thursday was another significant milestone for our Kindergarten students who have now embarked on their formal years of schooling.

To acknowledge the beginning of our academic year, students, staff, and parents attended our Commencement Chapel on Friday 2 February. During Chapel we formally welcomed Reverend Sally Yabsley-Bell into our Junior School Community and celebrated the opening of the new academic year.  Reverend Sally spoke to us about the importance of ‘self-care’ and the crucial role this plays in maintaining overall well-being and resilience in the face of life's challenges.

At Kinross Wolaroi School we believe in the importance of collaboration between parents, teachers, and students. Together, we create a positive and enriching experience for our community.  Below is an excerpt from Reverend Sally’s Prayers of the people, which captures this beautifully.

We pray for our school. For our teachers, staff, students, and families. We pray that we may bring blessings to all the community that we encounter. At Kinross Wolaroi School we know we are more than just a school, but we are part of the wider community. Let our action be something we can be proud of. Let our love reach further than we can ever know it does.

The enthusiasm for the upcoming year extends beyond the students; our Junior School staff shares the same excitement as they embark on a new academic year. Our teachers have returned full of excitement and zest ready to engage with students to collaborate on educational initiatives in the classroom that contribute to our vibrant learning environment.

Lockdown & Evacuation Drill – Tuesday 13 February, 12:15pm

Please note that the School will be staging a practice drill for a lockdown or evacuation on Tuesday 13 February at 12:15pm across both the Senior and Junior Schools. This will include practicing a classroom lockdown followed by an evacuation procedure.

Practice in these drills is essential to ensure that both staff and students understand what is expected of them in an emergency, so that they can remain calm and follow the correct procedures. All of this ensures their safety in an emergency.

We are informing families about the drill to avoid any misunderstandings or alarm on Tuesday when the drill takes place.

Kinross Wolaroi Students Making Their Mark

At Kinross Wolaroi we value and strive for academic rigour. Students have a myriad of opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences which in some instances the school provides or facilitates student access to them. Please share with us your child’s interest, passions, and achievements by emailing junioroffice@kws.nsw.edu.au

Very best wishes to all for the year ahead.
