Teaching and Learning Committee

Comprised of Learning Specialists and Learning Area Leaders, the Teaching and Learning Committee meets three times a term to discuss GEC pedagogical practices, assessment and reporting policies, and curriculum development. The committee is chaired by the Teaching and Learning Leader, with oversight from Assistant Principal Mark Oudshoorn. 

NAPLAN

Scheduled for Wednesday 13th to Monday 18th March (Weeks 7-8 of Term 1), the NAPLAN is undertaken by all students in Years 7 & 9. This assessment of Literacy and Numeracy will provide us with valuable insights to support our professional judgements of student attainment. It is particularly useful in enabling us to identify our broader areas of strength, as well as respond to student knowledge gaps.

We will shortly be providing students with guidance so that they are familiar with the online format of NAPLAN, as well as the structuring of questions. Further information will be sent out to parents/carers closer to the date. In the meantime, please avoid student absences where possible during the above dates. 

VHAP

We are proud to have had 19 students selected from Year 8 for the Victorian High-Ability Program in English and Maths. These courses run for one term and enable learners to extend themselves through online classes run by Virtual School Victoria. Students are usually chosen automatically based on standardised testing results, although teachers also have the right to nominate learners directly.
