Supporting the Garcia Family

St Augustine's would like to share the story of one of our families in our community. 

Naletta Garcia is the mother of two students at our school, Ezra and Jude. 

Naletta was a highly active member of our P&F and also used to run our second hand uniform shop, always lending a hand. 

Heartbreakingly in May 2021 Naleeta was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Naleeta commenced treatment but then suffered a chemotherapy overdose resulting in what they classify as 'incomplete quadriplegia' due to the permanent damage that the chemo had on her spine. 

This has been an extremely devastating time for Naletta, her husband Steven and her boys. Nalettas strong will, grace and determination is an inspiration to all. 

One thing Naletta would love to do is to be part of the St A's community again by seeing her sons at Assembly and being here on special days and occassions. 

However, due to highly limited access to wheelchair services, this has proved very difficult.  

A group of close friends have rallied to support Naletta and her family by trying to raise funds

 for a Kia Carnival that can be modified to allow wheelchair access. 

Their target is $80,000 of which they are currently half way at $40,500. 

As a community we want to help the Garcias in reaching their goal and we will be holding a special family community day this term that we hope all our families can attend to support Naletta in her time of need!!

We will be sharing information on this special event very soon, so we hope as a collective we can gather to support this Naleeta and her family!

St A's Playgroup

Yesterday we gathered for the first Playgroup session of 2024! It was so wonderful to welcome 4 new families and the return of 3 families! Last year we had 5 Playgroup members graduate to Prep here at St A's and now we welcome a new group with some starting in 2025 and 2027! ! We love having new faces so if you or a friend would like to join our Playgroup all are welcome! It runs from 2.15-3.15pm on Thursday afternoons! St A's Animal visits!

Ziggy and Turbo were out and about this week visitng students!
