Year 7 Student Managers’ Report

Officially, I am writing this as a new Yr 8, 2024 Student Manager. Just as the Year 7s have been settling into their new Year 8 Transition classes, we have been settling in as new Year 8 Student Managers. Transitions represent change.

Managing transition and adapting to change are life skills we all need to learn to develop. Well done to the Year 7 (Year 8 2024) student cohort for managing the transition to new classes well. We are all challenged to be and achieve our best, where-ever we find ourselves and our students have passed the first Year 8 “hurdle,” by adapting to new classes, subjects and teachers.

To those students and parents who are leaving us at VSC in 2024, we would like to say thank you for being part of the VSC community this year. Go well at your new schools. Similarly, we would like to say welcome to the new students, some of whom have already been attending Transition classes. We hope you enjoy your time here. Please keep asking those questions when you’re not sure what to do or where to go. Students, please look out for the new students and welcome/assist them.

As we wind down to end of the academic year pre-Christmas, we would like to wish the Year 8 students and their families a joyous Christmas and a festive and happy holiday season.

Lunch-time Basketball Competition

In Week 9, Ms Eccles organised a popular Year 7 House Basketball lunchtime competition. Many students played or watched from the gymnasium gallery. Competition was fierce and the overall House winner on points was Stirling. The closest match was Macedon vs Hotham, with Macedon emerging as victors by one point. We certainly have some talented and eager basketball players who embraced the House team challenge. Thanks also to PE staff referees Tom Smyth, Alysha Eccles and Michael Malpeli.

Congratulations – Piano Competition Award

Well done to the highly musically talented Zoey (7H1) on receiving a performance award, coming second in your age group in an Australia-wide piano competition: 2nd Prize - in 2023 KJC Asia & Pacific International Festival Piano Competition, Australia Region.
