We are recruiting homestays for Vermont Secondary College’s International Student Program
Vermont Secondary College’s International Student Program is looking for applications to participate in our homestay program. We are looking for some long-term homestays moving into 2024. In addition, we are also looking for emergency homestays who would provide short-term accommodation in emergency situations or if the student's current accommodation is unavailable for a short period of time.
While we only require a small number of homestay providers, they are an integral part of our support system for these students who have come to study from overseas. A homestay not only provides these students with a safe and welcoming place to stay for the duration of their studies (this is often two or more years), but also helps guide students as they develop their independence navigating life in Australia.
Being a homestay provider is a significant commitment. All homestay providers must:
· have a spare bedroom for the sole use of the student
· ensure all residents of the home over 18 have up-to-date Working With Children Checks (can be volunteer WWCC)
· agree to at least twice-yearly homestay visits
· participate in yearly training
At the same time, it is a really rewarding experience. You gain another member of your family and engage in cultural exchange.
Our homestay providers are compensated over $300 a week to cover living costs.
For more information about what we require from prospective homestay providers, please see the following brief video from the International Education Division: VIDEO HERE
If you are interested or know of anyone in the area who is interested in being part of our program, we would like to hear from you!
If you would like to send us an expression of interest or enquire about more information about our homestay program, please contact the International Student Coordinator, Cindy Wu at wuc@vermontsc.vic.edu.au.

Congratulations to all students who displayed our Vermont Values consistently in the classroom and students who participated in college events and extracurricular activities.
What an awesome place to be!
Over the past 2 weeks the college has run our year level awards assemblies, recognising the brilliant work of our students for 2023.
Our core work is done in the class and so many students received academic excellence and consistent effort awards. Whether a student received one or multiple awards, these awards will be available online with the students’ report. Well done!
It was also refreshing to recognise students who performed outstandingly in the college extra curricula programs. The college offers such a variety of activities in many areas; sports, music, performing arts, external and internal competitions, art, library and clubs.
For every student across years 7 to 11 who received an award at the assemblies we congratulate you.
The college extends warm Christmas wishes to all families.
Stay safe over the break and enjoy.
Peter Henderson
Head of House Macedon.
