Principal's Report
Fortnightly Snapshot
What a busy fortnight we have had here at ACPS.
Last week we had our Magic Show incursion which was nothing short of spectacular! I thought I would call in for the first 10 minutes and found myself leaving an hour later scratching my head as to how the magician was actually able to do what he did. The students were hanging on his every word and trick while eagerly putting their hands up for a shot at the Magicians Assistant. As the students left the office was inundated with requests for rubber bands with students eagerly wanting to practise their take home magic trick. Mrs Bailey has made magic the theme for Term One in Performing Arts and this event complemented the learning in the classroom perfectly.
I had the privilege of attending the National Young Leaders Day with Miss Black and our School Captains at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre last Friday. We were honoured to hear from esteemed speakers Anastasia Woolner, renowned as a former professional ballet dancer and memory champion; Bryson Klein, a multiple Ninja Warrior grand finalist and rock climber; Jane Bunn, a distinguished meteorologist and weather presenter; and Melissa Barbieri, a celebrated athlete as a previous Matildas Captain and Goalkeeper. Their insights and experiences left a lasting impression on our student leaders, empowering them to become leaders of the future that can make positive changes in their communities.
Our Grade 5/6 students have been actively engaged in our Phoenix Soar program, which takes place weekly. This program focuses on promoting mental health and emotional regulation among our students. Through various activities and discussions, students learn valuable skills to manage stress, build resilience, and cultivate positive relationships. This program is run by NBL club South East Melbourne Phoenix
Finally, we capped off the fortnight with District Swimming on Monday of this week. We had a strong team representing ACPS and they certainly swam their hearts out. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the District Swimming competition, I loved watching you all compete. Your dedication and hard work paid off, as ACPS finished an impressive 2nd overall for the day!
New Playground - Thank you Community Bank Warrandyte
You will have noticed a beautiful new playground between our sandpit and flagpole as you enter the school. This valuable new addition to our school was made possible by Community Bank Warrandyte and their generosity to grant us $20,000 to construct an obstacle themed playground to promote active and collaborative play four our students and the community members who visit our school.
Since the installation of the playground, it has become a sought-after playspace at Recess and Lunch, and for the early birds, I often see students taking advantage of the smaller crowds before school. I love seeing the happiness beaming from our students as they explore the natural elements, conquer the obstacles or invent new games and ways of playing on the tightrope.
On behalf of the ACPS community, I once again say, thank you, Community Bank Warrandyte, for your unwavering support and commitment to our school and our Warrandyte community. Your investment in our students' education and well-being is deeply appreciated and will continue to make a lasting impact for years to come.

Thank you to all families who have been in a position to contribute to our 2024 Voluntary Financial Contributions. With over 80% of families contributing so far, we've received close to $50,000! Your generosity enhances our curriculum, programs, infrastructure and enriches our students' experience at school. Your support is invaluable in fostering our thriving school community and we are extremely appreciative.
If you have not been able to yet, but are now in a position to do so, you can still make a voluntary contribution directly via the Front Office.
