Principal's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families

Welcome back!

Welcome everyone to the 2024 school year! I hope all families have had a happy and restful break and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather, time together and the many sporting events. As the Acting Principal, I extend a very warm welcome to everyone as we begin our first term of learning. I am excited to be joining the Maramba Primary School community and being a part of a great team, ready to continue to build on the successes achieved so far.  Over this week, I have had the pleasure of visiting each of the classes around the school, and seeing the several smiling faces that make Maramba a great school. It has been delightful to commence the term in a positive way with all of our students settling into school routines, reconnecting with their friends and showing great enthusiasm for their learning. Well done to our staff for their efforts in ensuring everything was ready for the start of the year.

Excited little learners!
Excited little learners!

I bring to this role my commitment towards excellence in ensuring all students can learn and flourish as part of a supportive community to achieve their very best.  Please let me know if you have any thoughts, issues or concerns that you wish to discuss. I welcome your feedback throughout my time at the school.

In my few days here, I have been very impressed with the 'Friends of Maramba' parent body who have straight away taken charge of organising the school canteen, playgroup and the second-hand uniform. A big shout out to Raelene, Wendy and Bec who have invested considerable time in getting things organised.

Year 6 Polos and Jumpers

Our Year 6 polos and jumpers have arrived and look amazing! The student led indigenous design based on the black cockatoo is unique and signifies 'flying towards your future'. This captures how we envision our Year 6 cohort to shine and flourish. It allows our senior students to stand out as leaders and visibly represent our school values of respect, responsibility, resilience and relationships.

Well done to Adrian and Louraine who designed the top along with valuable input from all other students who submitted a design for the 2024 polo. It is wonderful to see our students wear it with excitement and pride. Please use this link if you would like to order a Year 6 polo or bomber jacket directly from Aussie Apparel:

Professional Learning

On Monday and Tuesday this week, the Maramba staff participated in professional learning around the child safe standards, a whole school approach to Human Literacy and ways in which everyone can ensure that Maramba demonstrates qualities reflective of an effective school. Professional learning supports school staff to reflect on, question and deliberately improve their learning and teaching practices. We were very fortunate to have the two days dedicated to staff learning.

Parent Teacher Meet and Greet Sessions

We want to start the year right with getting to know our lovely families and involving parents or carers to discuss the best way to support the students. For this reason, we have scheduled our Parent Teacher 'Meet and Greet' sessions earlier in the term to provide an opportunity to have positive discussions to collect information on the child's interests and needs that will inform teachers on how best to cater for individual students. Please book a suitable time on XUNO to meet your child's or children's teacher/s. Communication regarding the sessions has been sent out.

Our newsletter, Maramba Flyer, will be published fortnightly on Fridays, with information, updates and celebrations about our wonderful school.

Take care and enjoy the weekend!

Kind regards,

Moniba Ehsan
