Catholic Identity

If there is one word that we should never tire of repeating, it is this: dialogue. We are called to promote a culture of dialogue by every possible means and thus to rebuild the fabric of society.’

St. Mel's End of Year & Graduation Mass ~

On Tuesday night, we gathered as a school community to joyously celebrate our School Community's accomplishments of 2023, to reflect on our year gone by, and to express gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon us. Our Prep children have successfully completed their inaugural year of school, while our Year Six students mark the conclusion of their primary education. As we witnessed the graduation of our Year 6 students, we took a moment to acknowledge their valuable contributions to our school. This occasion provides an opportunity for our graduates to express thanks for the support received from their parents, families, and the St. Mel’s School Community, seeking God’s blessings for their onward journey.

This was a beautiful opportunity to acknowledge our Year 6 Student Leaders & farewell them as they start their Secondary School journey. It was also a wonderful celebration of our 2023 school year and loved to see so many of our school community in attendance. Thank you to Fr Rene for celebrating this special occasion with us.

Luisa's Retirement Celebration ~ commitment to St. Mel's (40 years) & Catholic Education (52 years!)

On Thursday we gathered to celebrate, to thank and to take the opportunity to say a fond farewell to, Luisa Cassise. We reflected on Luisa’s 40 year contribution to our School & Parish Community, as well as her 52 years of service to Catholic Education.

With a sense of gratitude in our hearts, we thanked the Lord for Luisa’s many gifts of collegiality, friendship, wisdom, faith, a love of learning, compassion and guidance, which we have witnessed over her 40 years here at St. Mel’s.

Thank you to the many who attended this special Mass to recognise & thank Luisa.

St. Mel's Giving Tree ~

An enormous thank you to our School Community for supporting our St. Mel's Giving Tree. Under our Christmas Tree was full of presents for those in need this Christmas.  Thank you to our good friends at St. Vincent de Paul who have picked up all the presents to distribute to those in need in our community.  Our 3/4 students helped to pack the ute trailer full of presents.

Advent ~

'Advent is a journey towards Bethlehem. May we let ourselves be drawn by the light of God made man.' Pope Francis

On Thursday our Foundation students presented the Nativity Story to us through words, song & action. It was a beautiful way to end our Advent Liturgies for the year.

May the joy & peace of Christmas be with you and your family,

Danae Napier

Deputy Principal / Religious Education Leader.

Our New Website

We have some exciting news to share! Along with the updates to our Bulletin, we've recently launched a brand new website. The website went live during the Solemnity of Christ the King, and we encourage you to visit it at smps.org.au. There's a wealth of information available on the site about our programs, community, and schools, and we believe you'll find it both informative and easy to navigate.
