School Council President

Dear School Community,

I am delighted to share some highlights from our busy year so far. Our council, composed of dedicated parents, students, staff, Monash University staff and community members, has been fascinated to hear about the various initiatives that enrich our school and provide valuable opportunities for everyone involved.

This year has already proven to be one of our most dynamic yet.  We have seen a surge in the number of national and international competitions, post COVID restrictions, that our talented students have eagerly participated in. Our school is certainly making its mark on the global stage. These events not only showcase our students' talents but also foster a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition. The students are also able to take part in various camps and other learning opportunities. All of these activities are not possible without the support of our dedicated learning professionals.

We are fortunate at JMSS to have an amazing group of dedicated teaching and education support staff to guide our students through years 10 to 12.  It is important for us all to understand where the parent/ guardian contributions are being utilised and this is one of those areas. In addition, the building fund and library fund have been incredibly beneficial in supporting our school’s growth and development. The building fund is being utilised to  enhance our facilities, including upgrades to classrooms and common areas, ensuring that we have a safe and conducive environment for learning. Meanwhile, the library fund is dedicated to expanding our resources, including new technology and study materials. These enhancements will not only benefit current students but will also leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Our monthly council meetings have been both interesting and informative. These meetings serve as a platform for our members to share ideas, discuss important topics, and collaborate on projects that enhance our school environment. I am very proud of our two student representatives who are using this opportunity to develop their leadership skills and better understand governance processes. Hearing from them about their experiences and insights is something we all look forward to each month.

Keep an eye out for more information about the development of a JMSS association which could encompass alumni, parent interactions and the wider JMSS community, for which we will need your help.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm in the school.

Kind Regards

Natalie Isborn
