Hi everyone
Thank you for all of your hard work this term! Well done to everyone who supported our students during the NAIDOC incursion and a special thanks to Juri for organising such a great event. I know that all of our students had a wonderful day and were highly engaged throughout the session. Please can you send me any photos that you took on the day and I will include these in this week's Newsletter.
We are also excited to be celebrating World Book Day this week - I look forward to seeing the students (and staff!) dressing up as their favourite characters during our parade!
Here are a few items for your attention please:
Sally is currently working hard to make a set of visuals for us to support students following instructions and transitions. Please could I ask that, when you are giving an instruction, that you accompany this with the corresponding visual and then leave enough time for students to process what they are being asked to do before prompting again. As we move towards the end of the school year, please continue to support students to be as independent as possible, especially during transitions between the buses and classrooms.
IEPs
Semester 2 IEP goals will need to be finalised by the end of this term. Following on from this week's PLC, please do get in touch if you have any questions regarding writing your students' goals.
CTM
Please can I ask that your CTM has been populated with students' learning goals ready to discuss at your meeting. If you would like me to be norm monitor/timekeeper/note taker, please let me know. Following on from this week's PLC, please consider how you can utilise your CTMs during Semester 2 to work collaboratively to update your Student Profiles as well as discussing progress towards IEP goals.
Production
We got a special mention from Amanda! 'We want to give a massive shout out to the Primary Sub-school who have all uploaded their music to the Google Drive folder. You are amazing 😊'. Thanks to you all for being so organised!
Week 6, jobs include:
Classroom Walls:
It has been noted that a few classrooms have walls/cupboards that have been written on using permanent markers, pencils and so on. If this is the case, please either remove this yourself, or log it on maintenance to be removed. Should you wish to record student heights, please utilise tape, and reinforce the message to students that we are not to write or draw on the walls. Thanks very much for your support with this.
Excursions
Heading into this term we have excursions taking place as well as Kinder Gym - please ensure you remain on top of the excursion to do list ahead of time. Be sure permission has been given by parents, the activity locator lodged and transport as well as staffing considered. I urge you to touch base with both myself and the admin staff in the weeks leading up to the excursion to ensure you have a second set of eyes over documentation, and a sounding board to assist in planning and coordination of the excursion.
Term 3 Assemblies
Please note: if the CLH is unavailable, the assembly will be held by the room for that week in their own classroom and shared through Webex. If you choose to hold your assembly from your classroom, please send a Webex link by Wednesday of that week. You will also need to ask a staff member to host from the CLH if available. I would recommend assigning team members as 'Co-hosts' in case of IT issues.
Let me know if you need any help with setting up Webex.
This week... Term 3: Week 6: Room 3
Next up… Term 3: Week 8: Room 8
Please reach out if I can help in any way.
