Health Career Pathways: Rural Clinical School Health Career opportunities

Students interested in health career pathways have opportunities throughout the year to attend Workshop Taster and Seminar days which are organised by the UTAS Rural Health Clinic.

On Thursday 5 September, interested Year 10-12 students are attending the Health TASTER Day at the Cradle Coast Campus to explore occupations in Psychology, Biomedicine, Pharmacy and Nursing.

On 26 September interested Year 9 students will have the opportunity to attend the Health Careers Day being held at the Mersey Community Hospital. This will be an introductory multi-disciplinary health education program. Students attending are required to have a genuine interest in an area of health care and be achieving results indicating they are on track for university study.

Earlier this year several Year 10 students were able to attend a health careers day at the Mersey Community Hospital which they found very engaging!

These initiatives are designed by the Rural Clinical School to provide an ‘experience’ of health care to assist with career decision-making in lieu of work experience.

Scholarship Information

Study & Play in the USA – Sport Scholarship opportunities available

Last Tuesday, 27 August at the Ulverstone Campus a small but interested group of parents and students attended to learn about sport scholarships available, how the system works and how this is achievable for dedicated sports people. Chris Bates shared his experience of study and sport in an American College. He has written a book on how his experience was a ‘Game Changer’ and could be for others if they are willing.

Chris and his team provide coaching and support for families wanting to embark on this journey to compete at an elite level of sport while studying.  He will be back in March 2025 for a follow up visit for interested students, so jot this on your calendar as a reminder note for next year!
