What a magnificent day we had last Thursday, participating in our Athletics carnival over
at Lakeside Stadium. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers, who made the day such a success. We cannot do these events without you! Thank you to Brooke Loader, who did a great job organising our junior students for the day. How lovely it was to see every little
person having a try at events like hurdles for the first time. We are indebted to Can Osman, who did an outstanding job organising such a mammoth event for the seniors. It was a brilliant day, led capably by our House Spirit Leaders.
Congratulations to Gunuwarra on the overall winning result and to everyone who tried their best!
We are in the midst of seeking feedback from our students and staff about how we should spend the fundraising dollars raised in 2024. So far, we’ve raised an amazing $20,000, which is super exciting. Please keep an eye out for the parent/carer survey which is coming soon. We look forward to hearing your ideas too!
As part of our pre-review self-evaluation, I would like to offer an opportunity for you to come and share your reflections on the achievements and successes of SMPPS over the last 6 years and the areas that you think we could improve. There are two parent/carer forums on offer:
There is no need to RSVP. All welcome!
Please also note that the following Child Safe Policies have been reviewed and are available for access on the website. Further feedback is always welcomed.
I hope our new additions brought a smile to your face as you entered the school today. Our National, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags were installed yesterday and look magnificent! We are currently planning a First Nations garden to surround the flags which will provide a welcoming entrance. Please support your children to show respect for the flags by not holding onto the poles or attempting to climb them.
Last weekend marked the completion of the first phase of our synthetic turf installation. Our kids are already enjoying the new play areas and are taking excellent care of the new equipment.
Next, we’ll be adding turf near the breakfast club to create a quiet, social space. The turf at the far end of the terrace will feature our house spirit colors, providing an inviting area for our younger students to play and learn.
As our school council president Katrina highlighted, we’re also using funds from last year to purchase additional construction equipment, soccer goals for the playground, and staging, wings, and sound equipment for our upcoming performance.
We’ve recently been informed that the ramps around our school need resurfacing and modifications to the railings. Additionally, we need to build a ramp at the back door of the gymnasium to ensure safe wheelchair access. As a result, we’ve had to reduce the turf area between the playground and the gym. However, we hope to extend the turf in that area once the ramp construction is complete.
We are very excited for our up-coming performances in week 9. Lisa Paech and the children have been working hard to bring us a show to remember! Due to capacity limitations, we will be ticketing entry for each performance. Given that we can accommodate a maximum of 350 parents/carers each day, we are going to limit the initial bookings to 2 adults per household. If we find that there is further capacity, we will release the remaining tickets for those who may want to bring others along. Younger siblings will need to sit on their parents’ laps if they are in attendance.
To allow for the greatest number of family members to attend, our students will only be watching one of the two performances as audience members. They will, however, be performing on both days. There are many logistical considerations as I’m sure you can imagine, which has led us to change the time of the performance on Friday, 13th September. Both performances will now be held within the school day.
Tickets can be booked via the Qkr App. Bookings opening next Tuesday afternoon. There is no cost and there is no allocated seating. An initial limit has been set, of 2 tickets per household
