PREP NEWS
Book Week
For Book Week, our class is excited to create a door display inspired by the book "A Stack of Alpacas". Our crafts have centered on fine motor skills, with students creating their own alpacas to contribute to the display.
Literacy
In Literacy, we’ve been engaging in partner reading and participating in literacy rotations. Our focus in reading has been on making predictions, which has sparked thoughtful discussions and enhanced comprehension skills.
Numeracy
This week, our focus in Numeracy has been on subtraction. The students have been practicing their subtraction skills, working on different strategies to solve problems and build their confidence.
Science Week
Science Week was a highlight, thanks to the hands-on experiments led by Bernie, Orla's mum. The students had the chance to test microorganisms before and after washing their hands, gaining a practical understanding of hygiene. Your child will be bringing home the results of this experiment—feel free to discuss it with them and decide whether to keep it or discard it.
In addition to the hygiene experiment, Bernie guided the students through making lava lamps and bouncy balls. The children were captivated by these activities, and many have been inspired by Bernie’s enthusiasm for science. We might have some future scientists in our midst!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Bernie for making Science Week so memorable with her time, expertise, and passion.
