2024/2025 Sacramental Program infomation & calendar

Thanks to all our Sacramental Candidates and families who were able to join us for the Program Information Night last Thursday night. It was so nice to be able to introduce Fr Ruel and the Sacramental Team who work so hard and who are such a great support to our candidates & their families during the Sacramental journey.

If you were unable to make our info night please see Mel Shiels at the Parish Office or Danae Napier at St. Mel's Primary School if you would like an information pack.

We are looking forward to seeing our new Sacramental Candidates & families at our enrolment masses this Sunday, September 15th at 9.30 am or 5 pm.

Season of Creation ~ World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Pope Francis has established the 1st of September as the ‘World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation,’ encouraging communities around the world to pray for the care of our common home. The day is inspired by Pope Francis' landmark encyclical Laudato Si’, which calls on "Every person living on this planet" to care for our shared Earth.

This week, our Middle Years students marked the beginning of the Season of Creation with a special prayer during assembly.

Our Foundation students have begun their Source of Life unit on Creation. See the Foundation News for some of their amazing work.

How can we come together to care for and nurture all of creation?

Foundation Assembly Prayer:

Our Foundation students led us in prayer at assembly last week, we prayed, sang together and listened to stories from our special book the Bible, which they have been learning about in Religious Education. Thank you to the families who were able to attend and gather with us in prayer.

Social Justice ~ St. Vincent DePaul

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our St. Vinnies Winter Appeal. We will deliver these goodies to St. Vincent DePaul at the end of the term so there is still time to donate!

Stay tuned for a CRAZY Hair Day next term that our Year 6 Social Justice Team has begun to organise to raise much-needed funds for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Date ~ Term 4: Friday 25th October

Annual Footy Colours Coin Line & Come dressed in your favourite sport/sporting team Day!

To raise much needed funds for Catholic Missions Socktober Appeal, we will be having our annual Footy Colours Coin Line on the last day of term, Friday 20th September. Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia. An international organisation that partners with communities, helping them to flourish by supporting grassroots projects, including healthcare, education, and spiritual care.

Students are encouraged to bring silver or gold coins to place on the coin line of their favourite AFL Team! The Footy Team with the most coins will have their theme song played over the PA. Our coin line happens in the morning before school, so families pop in and enjoy the fun and great atmosphere.

We will then look forward to playing our much anticipated Staff vs Year 6 Students Netball Game!

Open our HEARTS up to the world & be COMPASSIONATE!

R U OK? Day ~ Our focus for our Assembly Prayer this Monday coming

R U OK? Day 2024 is Thursday 12th  September and is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘Are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation to let the people you care about know you're here, to really hear them

R U OK? inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life.

You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check-in

Have a wonderful weekend,
