THE FINAL COUNTDOWN FOR THE YEAR 12s

The second annual Year 12 ‘English Day’ took place on Friday 18 October. With the end of formal classes and valedictory celebration out of the way, it was time for our Year 12 students to refocus their attention to revise for the English and EAL exams which took place on Tuesday 29 October.

Our wonderful Year 12 teachers prepared a variety of workshops tailored to the learning needs of the students. Presentations, such as ‘Close Analysis of Structural/Literary/Film devices and ‘Tips and Tricks from Ex Students’, included lots of revision activities, group work, questions and sharing of ideas. We were so impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of our students on the day and feel they got a lot out of the sessions.

I would particularly like to thank the Year 12 English team leader, Dr Natalie Day, for her tireless efforts organising the day. I also want to thank all the English and EAL teachers who presented and helped our students as they prepared for these exams. Their dedication to their students is quite remarkable.

Our Literature students are also busily preparing for their exam which is taking place on Thursday 31 October. Our Literature coordinator, Shane Papatolicas, is a beloved teacher of these students and has worked incredibly hard to support these students at this time and throughout the year. Wishing all our Literature students all the best for the exam.

Finally, I’d like to remind our Year 12s that whilst exams are an integral part of a student’s academic journey, we are so proud of all that they have achieved in English. From the very beginning in Year 7 to date, they have tried their hardest and learnt so much. We sincerely hope that their studies in English have enriched their lives and encouraged them to be articulate, curious learners. All the best, Year 12s! The English faculty is all behind you at this time.
