Principal's Message

Carmela D'Amato (Principal)

Dear Families,

And just like that, our term 3 is over. What a wonderful term we have had full of exciting events and experiences for our students.  There are way too many to count, but here is a little snippet of what has happened this term:

I will be taking some Long Service Leave for the first two weeks of term 4 and am hoping to visit the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in Singapore during my break. Elizabeth Sarpa will be acting principal for those two weeks whilst I am away. I look forward to seeing all the students and families in week 3.

PRAYER SPACE

Our Breath as Prayer by Jennifer Tucker for this week comes from Psalm 18:30  “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” As a family, you may like to take some time to find a quiet space, read the Scripture passage, take some time to reflect and then follow the breathing words as you inhale and exhale.

FAREWELL AND GOOD LUCK

We are so excited for our mums to be and can't wait to her about the birth of their little bundles of joy! We wish Ms Santilla, Mrs Pettenon and Mrs Belanti all the very, very best as they begin their maternity leave before the arrival of their little babies and can't wait to meet them when they arrive! We look forward to welcoming Mr Montesano in Grade 2, Mrs Sanderson in grade Prep and Miss Katie who will continue as the full time teacher in year 1.

PHOTO SHARING

Attending school events is such an important part of school life, and we appreciate that we want to capture these events with a photo memory. Alongside our child safe standards, we remind parents to only take photos or videos of your own children. If you are wanting to share any photos whether online or amongst friends, please ensure that you either blot out the faces of other children OR seek permission from the parents of whomever is in the photo. We have had photos shared on whatsapp groups without permission being asked. All parents have a right to choose whether they want their children’s photos being shared or not. When we share photos on our social media, we only share photos of students whose parents have given us permission. Thank you in advance for respecting this wish, and keeping our students safe online.

PARENT ASSOCIATION

Thank you to our Parent Association for organising our PIZZA day last week. The Parent Association has been extremely active in organising events for our students. Please reach out if you are able to help out in any way when events come up. The volunteer group on the pizza day was just incredible. Sincerest thank you to all of our volunteers for giving up their time.

VICTORIAN GIRLS CHOIR

The VGC is running a workshop at our school on Tuesday 8th October  at 2.30pm. They are calling for any girls who are  interested in becoming a member of the Australian Girls Choir. Please see the attached flyer and use the QR code to register.

As our term comes to a close, I’d like to wish everyone a very safe and restful break. Take time to be with family, take time to reset, take time to reflect.

Happy Holidays!
