Potato Olympics

By Year 1/2T

Last Friday, the Year 1/2s participated in the Potato Olympics. They were given a potato to decorate and dress up. They named their potato, completed a fact file on them which included the potatoes name, country, sport ect.

The day began with an opening ceremony which included a Potato Olympic oath and Torch Relay. The student’s potatoes participated in eight events; Potato Putt, Potato Hockey, Potato Diving, Potato Spun, Potato Gymnastics, Ramped Potatoes, Potato Toss and the Potato Roll. They rotated through each event and participated enthusiastically in each. During recess and lunch the potatoes even rested in an Athlete’s Village!!!

In each event a gold, silver and bronze medal was awarded.

In the Potato Olympics, last Friday we did eight activities. One of these activities was Potato Diving and it was really fun. Then another activity was Potato Hockey. In the diving Marley got gold and Mason C got silver. Also the Year 1/2s got to design their potato and name it. At the end of the Potato Olympics our potatoes were ruined!!! Also we got the gold, silver and bronze medals at the closing ceremony. We had the best day at the Potato Olympics.  Charlotte S  and Blair G

The Potato Olympics was so fun. My favourite activity was the Potato Toss because it was really fun. There were bean bags that you had to toss into hoops to win points. Julia P

The Potato Olympics were great and amazing. My favourite was the Potato Gymnastics and my second was the Potato Rolling because it was fun. But I also loved all of them.

The Potato Olympics was the best day. But my potato broke on the last activity. I came second on the Potato Putt. Harper B
