Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

BOOK WEEK

Thank you to all parents for supporting the book week parade and dress up today. The costumes were great and there was a fun-filled mood across the whole school.

Thanks to all staff for organising the activities throughout the week and for giving our students access to the short-listed books. They have been used across all year levels of the school and will be into the future. Mrs Toone and I enjoyed reading to classes this week as part of a lucky draw.

WPPA EVENTS- TERM 3 2024

The Father's Day Stall will be held on Thursday 29th August 2024 with all students having an opportunity to purchase gifts for their father's/guardians.

It is usually a great success and we hope all our families enjoy a wonderful day on Father’s Day. The other major fundraiser which is also a great day will be our Footy BBQ. This is on the last day of term on Friday 20th September 2024.

Everyone is welcome to dress in their footy colours and enjoy a BBQ lunch at school. All meals are pre-ordered so please ensure that your family does not miss out on the fun. Order forms will be distributed soon.

GYMNASIUM UPGRADE

We are very pleased with the works occurring at our Gymnasium. The water damaged interior has been removed and the next major step is to ensure that the exterior is repaired so that it is finally water-proof. It is an exciting time for our school.

RESPECT as a CORE VALUE

As part of our school review our school is considering our values with an eye to more inclusive attitudes right across our wider school community. Respect is a fundamental value because it underpins healthy relationships, effective communication, and social harmony. Here are a few reasons why respect is so important:

  1. Fosters Positive Relationships: When people show respect for one another, it builds trust and understanding, leading to stronger and more supportive relationships, whether in personal, professional, or social contexts.
  2. Encourages Open Communication: Respectful interactions create a safe space where people feel heard and valued. This openness promotes honest and constructive dialogue, which is crucial for resolving conflicts and finding common ground.
  3. Promotes Inclusivity and Equality: Respecting others' differences—whether they be cultural, racial, gender-based, or ideological—helps to create a more inclusive and equitable society. It acknowledges the inherent worth of each individual and supports a diverse community.
  4. Boosts Self-Esteem and Confidence: When people are treated with respect, they feel valued and appreciated, which can significantly enhance their self-esteem and motivation. This positive reinforcement encourages individuals to contribute more fully and confidently.
  5. Supports Conflict Resolution: Respect helps to de-escalate conflicts by encouraging empathy and understanding. When parties involved in a dispute approach each other with respect, they are more likely to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  6. Encourages Ethical Behaviour: A respectful attitude often aligns with ethical principles, such as fairness, honesty, and integrity. It promotes a sense of responsibility and accountability in one's actions.

In essence, respect is a cornerstone of human interaction that helps to build a more compassionate, collaborative, and functional society.

Have a great weekend.
