Year Three - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
This week has been an extra-special one, with a particularly noteworthy event happening on Thursday - when fathers and father figures were invited to all classrooms to interact and play some games with their children and friends. We want to thank all the fathers and father figures who were able to come and join us in these activities, and wish them and all the dads, grandads and father figures who weren’t able to attend a very happy Father’s Day on Sunday 1st September.
Last Friday for Bookweek, the whole school was involved in a book parade, where students and teachers came dressed as their favourite book characters. Below are some amazing pictures from the Bookweek Parade.
Mathematics: Sorting 3D shapes according to their features and understanding and comparing sizes and spatial relationships of 3D shapes.
English: Using the story ‘Flood’ by Jackie French as a stimulus - finding out about what floods are, then creating a narrative entitled ‘Fire’ planning and writing about characters, setting, problems and resolutions.
Religious Education: We have been looking at the difference between Needs and Wants - and understanding what some of the basic needs are for all human beings: clean air, clean water, food, shelter, clothes and how they are included in the Catholic Social Teaching Principles, identifying how Jesus loved and cared for everyone, particularly those who were poor, sick, hungry and marginalised.
Integrated Studies: This week we have been continuing to participate in Drama and showing how to use our bodies and faces to enhance our acting.
Auslan: In Auslan we have been reviewing what we have learnt in the units so far. In some cases some of the signs are the same for different words, such as ‘watch’ and ‘look’.
