Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
We had a lovely morning on Thursday with our father figures and special people. It was so great to see so many come and visit our classrooms. We created our own Tic-Tac-Toe games and got to play a few rounds with our special people as well as having a tasty treat to start or morning. We wish all the fathers and father figures a very special day on Sunday.
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We are learning about how we can show the image of God in our world today as well as preparing for our Mass.
Mathematics: We are using the strategies we have learnt for multiplication and division to solve real world problems.
English: We will be looking at how we respond to texts in personal and creative ways as well as incorporating adverbs into the sentence structure. Our spelling rule this week is the fifth job of the Silent Final E where some words end in 'e' just because, many of these words have the ending 'se' as if we took off the 'e' they would look like plurals.

Auslan: This week we are learning that Deaf people around the world use signed languages to talk about what is important to them. One of the main things that Deaf people value is their access to a beautiful visual language and we explore the different places that sign language is used.
Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: This term we are learning about positive gender relations and will look at identify and practicing respectful and gender friendly behaviours.

Reminders
As part of our Integrated Unit on Performing Arts, we will be having an incursion on Thursday 5th September with a focus on World Dance. We will be looking at and taking part in different dance styles from across the world. Students please wear PE uniform on this day. 2A and 2B will still take part in their usual PE lesson too.
In Week 9 Damascus Community along with the Jerusalem Community will have our Term 3 Mass. Families are invited to join on Wednesday 11th September at 9:30am in the Church. The theme for our Mass is 'Ask and You Shall Receive'.
Just a reminder that while we are not a nut-free school, we have many students with allergies in our community, including one student with anaphylaxis. Please be conscious when packing lunch boxes.
