Year Five - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

 

Thank you to all the dads who were able to come in on Thursday for the Father's Day morning. We hope all dads and father figures had a lovely day on Sunday. 

 

Next weeks learning;

Mathematics: Students will continue to look at data in various forms related to the Paralympics. 

English: Students continue to read the class novel of Kensuke's Kingdom. Students will continue to focus on persuasive writing and the structure of each paragraph.

Religious Education:  Students will continue their learning about the Sacramental Church. Last week students listened about the stories of 2 of the Year 5 staff members and how they implement service into their daily lives.

SEL:  Students will continue to look at the kinds of gender-based violence boys and girls may witness, experience or perpetrate in and around the school

Integrated Studies: Students are introduced to the meaning of the word drama. They will be introduced to the portrayal of drama in ancient Greek times.

Auslan:  Students will be learning about signs for family members.

Numeracy: Go to the following website and compare the medal tallies of two countries. https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/medals

  1. Which country received the most gold medals?
  2. How many more gold medals did one country receive compared to the other?
  3. Look at how the data is presented. Is it easy to read? Why or why not?

Write down 3 Interesting facts you learnt from the video. Read your notes to a family member and discuss the Information.

 
Writing:  Discuss with your family members if they wore school uniforms when they went to school.  Persuade your family members why students should not wear school uniforms. Can you come up with 3 reasons why you should wear them?
