Celebration of Learning

You are invited to attend our Science Afternoon!

Wednesday the 3rd of September from 2.30-3.00pm

Please see below for details.

Year Level

What is our focus?

Where?

                             What are we sharing?

Foundation

Biological ScienceWe explored the world of living things and discovered what they needed to survive—like food, water, air, and shelter. We looked closely at plants and animals, watched how they grew and changed, and learnt how to tell if something was alive or not. FA: Room 9FB: Room 10FC: Room 11Come celebrate our students’ creativity at the Animal Habitat Diorama Gallery Walk! Families will explore student-made dioramas, hear short presentations, play Diorama Bingo, and contribute to a shared Reflection Wall.
Year 1This term in Science, Year 1 students have been exploring forces — how pushes and pulls can start, stop, speed up, slow down, and change the direction of objects. They’ve also investigated how the size, shape, and material of objects affect their movement

1A - Room 14

1B - Room 15

To apply their learning, students have designed and made their own cars. During our celebration, they will:-  Show their cars-  Explain their designs - Test their cars.

We can’t wait for you to see their creativity and learning in action!

Year 2

In our Earth Science unit this term, we have been exploring day and night, seasons, weather changes and how they happen. Today, we are focusing on the weather in winter and learning to describe what happens when a cloud becomes full of water!

2A: Room 17

2B: Room 16

Dear Grade 2 Families,

Please join us in the classroom for our science experiment ‘Rain in a Jar’, where you and your child will explore how clouds form and release rain. This links to our learning about weather and seasons!

Year 3We are learning to understand the water cycle by building an understanding of how precipitation is produced and identifying the stages of the water cycle and how they are connected.

3A: Room 21

3B: Room 20

3C: Room 23

We invite our Grade 3 families to assist in setting up an investigation where students will be creating the sun and ocean with a plastic bag! Once students have made their experiment they will follow on from this by making predictions about what will happen to the water over the following few days.

Year 4We are learning to collaborate using our materials and forces knowledge to design and build a protective structure that can prevent an egg from breaking when dropped from a height.

Near our classrooms outside:

4A - Room 19

4B - Room 18

4C - Room 22

Venue - weather dependent.

Please note: We are attending the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) excursion on this day. We hope to be back by 2:30pm, however, we can't guarantee an early arrival back at school due to traffic, road works, etc.

The Year 4 students invite their families to join in their 'Egg Drop' design challenge. After planning, designing and building a suitable protective structure using our knowledge of materials and forces, students invite their families to view the testing of our designs. It's sure to be an 'eggciting' session!

Year 5We are learning about how ingredients can react and change when you mix them together. 5A,5B,5C Rooms 5, 6 and 7We invite our Year 5 families to participate in a science experiment with us. We will be making a volcano and then record how the ingredients reacted.
Year 6This term, we’ve been exploring Chemical Science (looking at the properties of different materials and how combining them can change the way we use them)  and Physical Science (where we’ve learned about different types of energy and how energy can be moved or transformed from one form to another).

6A, 6B, 6C: Room 3

The session will commence in room 3, however it will conclude outside on the oval.

WARNING!!! Don't stand too close!

We invite our Year 6 families to participate in a science experiment with us. We will be exploding a bag by creating a chemical reaction between ALL states of matter.

School Hats

As of Monday the 1st of September, students must wear a school hat while outdoors during recess, lunch and PE sessions. Students who do not have a hat, will need to sit in the No Hat NO Play shady area. School hats are available from the uniform shop. Please ensure your child's name is clearly written on their.
