Book Week

Books. What an adventure you may take by simply reading a book. What a ride WE were taken on as we explored the many book characters our students arrived as last Thursday.

What a joy it is that, as a small school, our students also get to express so eloquently the reasons they have chosen their characters. Every year, the detailed descriptions of our students' characters and public speaking improve.

Although not a competition, it is a delight to see the creativity of children and their families come to life during this event. From the most well thought out speaking, the use of found materials, and the next level artistic endeavours by both children and their parents, this event gives EVERY child the chance to shine in some way. We thank every family for sending their child to school in a costume that reflects their love for a favourite book. We appreciate the efforts of everyone.

Our afternoon activities took a slight detour this year as our library was unavailable to support our Kids’ Lit Quiz. Instead, we were treated to performances by our students from years 2-6, armed with nothing but a script and some newspaper to create simple props. We were very impressed by the time management of the groups and the dramatic performances they produced in a short period of time. Well done to all!
