This week in Maths, our classroom was transformed into a Clock-Themed Escape Room! Students had to solve a series of tricky time challenges to avoid being “trapped in time.” There was so much laughter, squealing, and friendly competition as they raced to crack the code. After each challenge was completed, the groups were given a secret number which would eventually end up being part of the code for the lock.
The excitement reached its peak when the lock finally clicked open at the end! A huge congratulations to Blue Team, who were the first to break free after solving all of the time problems. Well done, everyone, for showing persistence, teamwork, and sharp problem solving skills!
Last week, our school came alive with colour, creativity, and excitement as we celebrated the 80th year of Book Week! The theme, “Book an Adventure”, inspired each class to dive into a CBCA Shortlisted Book, exploring its characters, settings, and ideas in imaginative ways.
It was wonderful to see students proudly showcase their costumes during our morning parade. From brave explorers to magical creatures, animals, and story-inspired creations, the hall was filled with adventure and wonder! After the parade, students enjoyed a variety of rotational activities before coming together for a special shared lunch.
A very big thank you to the following businesses who kindly donated food for our event: Prestige Fruit and Vegetables, Waa Waa Japanese Eatery, Alfa Bakehouse (Seddon), Eleni’s Kitchen and Bar, IGA Yarraville, and 3013 Bagels. A special thank you also goes to Kat for her support in organising these donations and helping with the day. Thankyou to Amber, Oummy, Sonia, Sooty, Carol, Nicole, Loan, Antonina, Chris, Miranda, Viratchara & Kat that were able to assist in the food preparations and serving. It was lovely to see students trying new foods and enjoying the celebration together.
We were also fortunate to welcome author Leigh Hobbs, who visited our school on Wednesday. Students loved hearing about his stories, characters, and creative process, and were inspired to think like authors themselves. Leigh will be at the Sun Bookshop this Saturday at 10:30am to sign copies of his books.
Once again, thank you to our students, staff, families, and community partners for helping to make Book Week 2025 such a memorable celebration of reading, imagination, and fun!

Students have been learning about conjunctions, focusing on but and because, through engaging stories such as Wombat Stew and Wombat. They are also exploring mathematical concepts like taller/shorter and empty/full through hands-on activities. In Religious Education, students have been learning about St Augustine and his search for God, while in wellbeing they continue to build respectful relationships by discussing different emotions and strategies to help manage how they are feeling. During Book Week, the students were very excited to share their love of reading, and their costumes inspired by the story One Little Dung Beetle were especially creative and fun.
We also wish Miss Danni all the very best as she prepares for the birth of her second child.
Last week, our Year 3/4 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Melbourne's Sea Life Aquarium. The day was filled with hands-on learning as students explored the wonders of the underwater world. Highlights included walking through the famous ocean tunnel while sharks and rays swam overhead, discovering penguins up close, and even having the chance to touch sea stars and empty shark egg cases. Students learned about the importance of protecting marine environments and were fascinated by the wide variety of sea life on display.
What a fantastic day for our 5/6 Students competing in the Volleyball and T20 Cricket competition in the Westgate District Summer Gala on Thursday 28th August.
An amazing win for the Volleyball Girls B Team and the T20 Cricket C Team.
