Most students have now completed their ‘Crazy Camel’ Art pieces.

More information on the ordering process will happen in Term 4.

Grade Prep’s

This week, the Grade Preps have been working on their second art piece for the Seaside Fair. There are some sneak peaks in the photos attached. We will have to pause this activity briefly so we can squeeze in a special art piece for their Father’s Day celebration!

Grade 1’s & 2’s

Our Seaside Fair art pieces are now complete. This week we meet a new artist, Claude Monet. We have been inspired by the French Impressionism Exhibition at the NGV. We looked at a bit of history and then studied some of Monet’s famous art pieces.

Grade 3/4’s

The Grade 3/4’s have continued working on their 3D beach scenes using Magiclay. Most of these are now finished and will be on display at the Seaside Fair.

Grade 5/6’s

The Grade 5/6’s are getting very creative designing their concertina 3D landscapes. I’m very impressed with their designs and can’t wait to see them completed.

Indigenous Incursion

I was lucky enough to attend one of the Art sessions for the Indigenous Incursion last week. I was so impressed with the children’s use of symbols and how they worked collaboratively with one another. Well done everyone!!

Art smocks

Just a reminder to bring in your Art smocks. Please hand them into your classroom teacher for storage. I recommend an old, oversized t-shirt or shirt with your child’s name on it.

Prep Drama.

Our lessons are now learning and discovering our voices. The volume, pitch and tone. They then use these skills to act out a Fairy Tale characters

Grade 1

Students have been using their imagination to create drama. They have used their bodies and movement to create drama including a game of “1-minute objects” were they work together in a small group to create a given object using their bodies. (Pictured above) They have also acted out characters using facial expressions, actions and body movement. Next up they will be looking at the use of masks in drama.

Grade 2

Students have been learning about the different types of puppets. They have worked collaboratively in small groups to retell a well-known story using one dimensional puppets. Next up they will be looking at some of Aesop’s Fables told through shadow puppets.

Grade 3 & 4

Students have continued working on the features of melodrama including activities based on exaggeration and character voices. They have started working in small groups on bringing to life some short melodrama scripts.

Grade 5 & 6

Students have been focussing on story telling through drama and creating characters from starter scripts. They have begun working with a partner on a series of plays called “Take 2” which are written for 2 actors that go for 2 minutes.
