What's On In 3/4

Book Swap for JSC Initiative
A big well done to the JSC group for their fantastic organisation of the Book Swap! The event was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many students eagerly bringing along their tokens to select some new books. It was a fun, engaging way to kick off Book Week and helped spark excitement around reading. Great job to all involved!
Book Week Wrap-Up
Book Week was another fantastic success this year! We celebrated reading in so many exciting ways and the energy throughout the week was truly contagious.
We kicked things off with the Book Swap, a fabulous opportunity for students to share and discover new stories, it was a joy to see the enthusiasm as they exchanged their tokens for books.
The Book Fair opened shortly after, giving families the chance to stock up on fresh reads and reignite the love of reading at home.
One of the highlights of the week was the Dress-Up Parade the pièce de résistance! Students and staff went all out, dressing as their favourite book characters. We had classics like Harry Potter, Cat in the Hat, and Thing One and Thing Two, alongside a colourful mix of princesses, superheroes, animals, and more. The creativity and spirit were incredible to see.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week so special, from organising events to helping students find the perfect costume. What a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of books!
Autobiographies – Level 3/4 Writers in Action!
Level 3/4 students have been diving into the world of autobiographies, learning how to craft their own memoirs with creativity and personal flair. They've explored the lives of famous figures, from sporting stars and authors to other well-known personalities, to understand how life stories are told.
Students have been working hard to write in the first person, sharing interesting facts and memorable moments from their own lives. It's been a joy to read and share these personal stories within the class so many unique experiences and voices!
Next, we’re excited to turn our attention to biographies, where students will research and write about their favourite authors. We can’t wait to see what they uncover and create next!
Garden & Kitchen Update – Growing, Cooking, Learning!
We continue to build on our culinary skills in the kitchen and grow our green thumbs in the garden! Students have been working collaboratively, learning hands-on skills and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
In the garden, we’ve been busy constructing a small retaining wall along the garden bed, planting new seedlings, harvesting delicious herbs, and turning over the soil to prepare for more planting. It’s been wonderful to see everyone working together, getting their hands dirty, and taking pride in the garden's progress.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, students have been using freshly harvested ingredients to cook up some tasty dishes such as Jerusalem Artichoke Gnocchi, a true garden-to-plate experience!
We're proud of the teamwork, enthusiasm, and growing knowledge in both spaces. There’s so much more to come as we continue nurturing our environment and our skills!
