Teaching & Learning Update

As we move through Term 3, we are excited to share with you the many exciting initiatives and learning opportunities happening across our school community at Wollert PS.

Unpacking the VTLM 2.0 and NAPLAN Data

Our dedicated teaching staff are currently engaged in unpacking the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0). This process allows us to deepen our understanding and refine our teaching practices to ensure every student receives the best possible learning experience.

Alongside this, we have been reviewing our National Assessment Plan (NAPLAN) data with a strong focus on identifying ways to both support and stretch our students. This detailed analysis helps us tailor our programs to meet the diverse needs of our learners and provide targeted support where it matters most.

Common Assessment Tasks (CATS) on Seesaw

Our students’ Common Assessment Tasks (CATS) are available throughout the term on Seesaw for families to access. These tasks are a key part of our ongoing assessment process, helping us track student progress and plan future learning. We warmly encourage you to read your child’s posts and leave comments. Sharing a “1 star” (something your child has done well) and “1 wish” (something to work on) is a powerful way to support your child’s learning journey. Research shows that family engagement in student learning significantly boosts student motivation and outcomes, your involvement truly makes a difference.

Phonics First Assessment for Year 1 Students Has Arrived

Our Year 1 students are currently completing the Department of Education’s Phonics First assessment. This assessment provides valuable insights that help our teachers deliver targeted support through our systematic, synthetic phonics program. It’s a wonderful tool to help each child build strong foundational reading skills.

Professional Learning Communities

Our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) continue to support our teaching teams through an inquiry cycle focused on enhancing maths teaching and learning. Our Specialist team is actively investigating in implementing Positive Classroom Management (PCM) strategies. Their work aims to establish evidence-based, relevant calls to action that promote positive behaviour and a productive learning environment across all classrooms.

Looking Ahead: Term 4 Planning

Planning for Term 4 is already underway. We are committed to maintaining high quality, engaging learning experiences for your children and will keep you informed of upcoming events and opportunities.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we strive to provide an enriching and inclusive learning environment for all our students. We look forward to sharing more successes with you as the term progresses.

Warm regards,
