From our Year Five/Six Classrooms

Book Week

Congratulations to all students who came dressed as their favourite book character. We had some wonderful thought out costumes. It was lovely to celebrate the last book parade for our grade 6 students.

This week classes also visited the Scholastic Book Fair and made a wish list of books they would like to see in our classroom and school library. Lots of students were interested in the Dog Man series as well as all the graphic novels.

Racism

This term during Social Emotional Learning, one lesson is dedicated to the topic of racism. Its important for all students to be an upstander, be bold and speak up if they hear racist comments. We all have the responsibility to stand up to racism. Everyone deserves to be safe.

Students have designed posters and unpacked what racism means for different community groups. One important comment that needs to be removed is " Its just a joke" . If a racist comment is made it is not a joke. Whether its to your friend , family or anyone in the community.
