Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Report

Term 3 started well for our students. Here’s how these students have met our College Values of RESPECT , INSPIRE and EXCEL:

  • Inspire – being ready to learn.
  • Respect – respect peoples personal spaces.’
  • All three values – actively participating in and completing literacy and Numeracy tasks throughout the week.
  • Respect – demonstrating respect and settling into class.
  • Inspire – staying in classroom longer.
  • All three values – I wear my uniform with pride.
  • Inspire and Excel - independently completing his maths work in class.
  • Inspire – settling into VPC A so well.

VPC A Assembly

On Friday 1st August, it was our turn to showcase what we have done lately in the Special Education Assembly. We spoke about what we do on a Thursday morning, as we go to The Centre and work on their Foodbank gardens. For the students that can’t attend, they work in the gardens behind the science wing, with the help of Amanda McClaren. This something that we all enjoy doing, as we learn better being hands on.

VPC B News

Having worked on persuasive writing last term, this term students in VPC B have been building on their debating skills. This has meant learning how to write and present speeches as well as learning how to plan, write and give a rebuttal. They have also learnt the format and process of how to have a formal debate. The topic of the first debate was ‘Teachers Should Pay Students to Complete Their Work’. This lead to some lively discussion and very creative thoughts and speeches. The second whole class debate was titled ‘Australia Should Move to a Four Day Work Week’. Students have also participated in informal debates and discussions around many other different topics.

As part of the Personal Development Skills unit on community, students in VPC B have made a sensory garden for Seymour College. While not yet complete (it is not decorated yet), they have finished making the garden bed, organised soil for it and have already planted a number of plants in it.  It is hoped that once completed, this garden will be able to be enjoyed by the whole school.

Red Room Report

The students from Red Room have been reading the book 'An Amazing Australian Road Trip', by Jackie Hosking as part of their in Inquiry. They have been learning all about different significant landmarks in Australia.  Some of the places have included Cooper Pedy, Ningaloo Reef, Daintree Rainforest, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef. The students are enjoying exploring and learning new facts the different places in Australia.
