From the Head of Junior School

As we move through another exciting (and busy!) term of learning, I’d like to take a moment to highlight just how important regular school attendance and punctuality are for your child’s success—especially when it comes to literacy.

Each morning in the classroom sets the tone for the entire day. This is when students engage in key literacy activities like reading, writing, phonics, and language discussions. These early learning blocks are carefully designed to build strong foundations in reading and communication—skills that support learning across every subject.

Arriving on time ensures that your child:

✅ Doesn’t miss out on critical instructions and explanations

✅ Feels calm and settled, ready to learn

✅ Builds confidence and routines that support lifelong learning habits

I understand that mornings can be busy, and that the occasional late start is sometimes unavoidable. But just a few minutes late each day can add up, and over time, students may miss out on essential pieces of their literacy journey.

We’re here to support families however we can—if you’re finding mornings a challenge, please reach out to staff. Together, we can help every student make the most of every school day. If you are late, do remember to go via the office so that Mrs Arrell and Mrs Boros can ensure that the correct information goes on the roll.

Thank you for all you do to support your child’s learning.
