From the Principal

Dear families,

We look forward to seeing lots of amazing dress ups tomorrow for our Book Week Dress up day. It is a popular day for many in our community. Thanks to Mrs George and Mrs Norris who have worked hard to organise activities and resources for the students and staff to enjoy.

Staff and students needed to be flexible last Monday as the pool had staff shortages and could not accomadate our school. The make up session for the missed class has now been scheduled for Monday, 1st of September. For this session the pool is running water safety sessions, students are asked to bring a set of clothes that can be worn into the pool. A reminder will also be in the newsletter next week.

Last Friday we celebrated Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. This Feast Day is a Holy Day of Obligation meaning all Catholics should attend Mass and receive Eucharist on this day. The children participated in Mass wonderfully and represented our school beautifully in front of the Parishioners.

Last Friday, we also said farewell to Michael and Elsa who were on a study tour from China. This is the second year in a row they have visited and we love having them. We are hoping they can have another short visit next year.

Just a reminder for the community, I will be on leave from close of business on Friday 29th of August. I will be back at school for the start of Term 4, Ms Danielle George will be Acting Principal in my absence. She will be well supported by our school leadership team (Marcia Janky, Belinda Saville and Donna Anderton). I have a wonderful opportunity to head over to Italy with a group of Principal's from the Outer East Network. It is sure to be an enriching experience and I look forward to sharing highlights with everyone on my return.

Parish Priest Announcement:

In the Parish newsletter last week it was announced that Father Thomas Kuruvila has been named as Parish Priest of the St Thomas More Parish. Fr Thomas is currently Parish Priest of St John the Baptist Ferntree Gully, he will continue in this role while also taking over the Parish of St Thomas More. An assistant Priest will also be put in place to help Fr Thomas support both Parishes. We pray for Fr Thomas as he guides our Parish through a period of transition. I am hoping to meet with Fr Thomas next week and share our school's story with him.

Our school continues to grow and thrive, classes are nearly full for 2026 (they will be small class sizes, a Mr Mc promise). Keep spreading the word!!
